A Great Way to Digest

Just a reminder that next Friday is the start of many things:

1. the official holiday season (even though I am sure it is already here)
2. a day of digesting turkey, or whatever it was you had for thanksgiving

If I were you, I'd take a chance at running into the holiday shopping mob and head on over to The Compound Gallery/Blank Space Gallery - located conveniently on San Pablo, safely away from malls and shopping outlets! I will be there with all the holiday cheer I can muster (which really isn't much). But the gallery space looks great and there are going to be great things happening. Aren't you curious just as to what the wheel o' bounty is? I know I am, and I am going to find out!

The Holidays Are Coming...Yikes

Being that my decaying pumpkin is still on my porch, along with all my other Halloween decorations is a good indicator that I am not ready for the "holiday season" to creep in. However, I know that it is going to happen, and have seen it coming since late August at some stores. Christmas is simply a 5 month long holiday.

Knowing I can't hide from it, I have decided to embrace it - sort of. I am participating in the 4th annual (my first annual) Holidayland Show at The Compound Gallery/Blank Space Gallery in Oakland. The show is featuring over 100 local artists and is focusing on handmade, original art and crafts for you to give to your loved ones this "holiday season". My stuffed animals, jacket pins and a few drawings will be in this show - sorry, no paintings this time.

Examples of my pins - magpie, elk, beetle, squirrel, cicada - look great on jackets!

The show looks promising and it is a great opportunity for local artists to show off their stuff and for people to come and purchase affordable original art (everything is priced under $200).

Opening Reception is Friday, November 27th from 6-9pm, followed by First Friday Reception: Friday, December 4th, from 6-10pm (*additional holiday cheer events Dec 13th and 20th from 4-8pm).

Hope to see some of you there!! (full gallery information posted below, or check the website (linked above)).
